Kawasaki disease is a children’s illness. It is also known as Kawasaki syndrome or mucocutaneous lymph node syndrome. This along with the acute rheumatic fever is two leading causes of acquired heart disease in children. About 80% of the people with the disease are under age five. However, children over age eight are rarely affected. The disease occurs more often among boys (over 60 percent) and among those of Asian ancestry. It can occur in every racial and ethnic group. Definition of Coronary Artery Disease
Coronary artery disease (CAD) occurs when the arteries and blood vessels that supply the heart with blood and oxygen begin to narrow affecting the functioning of the heart . This develops as a result of an accumulation of plaque in the arteries and blood vessels. If the blood flow is totally obstructed by plaque it can lead to a myocardial infarction or heart attack or in more tragic circumstances cardiac arrest. The Interstitial Lung Disease (ILD) also known as the Diffuse Parenchymal Lung Disease (DPLD) refers to a group of lung diseases affecting the interstitium (the tissue and space around the air sac of the lungs) .
